This year, I was privileged to march with the New York Buddhist Church . We marched for equality and inclusiveness. The parade was led by Matthew Shepard's parents. Everyone's presence was appreciated, especially since the fight for marriage equality is all but won, yet these last couple of years have seen the rate of hate crimes against the LGBTQI community increase tremendously. Anyway, we had a wonderful time, the sangha and I. Please enjoy these snapshots of our pre-parade moments... Namo Amida Butsu...

I may be homeless and am eating out of rubbish bins, but manky I am not: in fact, I have a praised history of hosting and a reputation for putting out a fantastic spread for guests, hence the following suggestion to my millionaire+ friends out there: Whether for yourself as a party of one, or for you and a several person soiree, try putting on the Sugarcubes (CD or mp3), and enjoy (alone, but preferably with a few others), fermented shark and shots of aquavit. Please drink responsibly, and mind your and your friends' limits! (The poorer among us can enjoy a similar effect with mouldering shaved Parmesan, esp. if it's got that ammonia sting, and some damned man's vodka such as Georgi or Royal Gate.) Activities might include Uno, a game of 'truth or dare,' or comparing and competing among each other on Instagram or Flickr...

I've posted across four platforms, but I just wanted to share with you here that today, via Japanese news, NASA has just completed a 45 day simulation of a manned mission to Phobos, largest Martian moon, in a mock-up spacecraft. Everybody, for me this is huge and has made my day super. Let me explain: for a few short years now, I have been the only one on the WWW and therefore in public advocating the exploitation and colonization of Phobos using existing technologies and a spacecraft (the Intrepid) built mostly of off-the-shelf components. I've strenuously promoted Project Timorous for some time on my Tumblr account ... And now? It's on NASA's radar - success, Deedee! (Besides my proposal and pocket mission architecture, I find really only the good Pascal Lee's white paper, which makes a fine, reasoned case for trekking to the Martian moon, and for which I owe him thanks.) So yes, I might be mental and homeless, but I am apparently QUITE EFFECTIVE! O, FR

We were packed cheek to jowl this morning on the 4 train bound for Manhattan. She was wearing that New York uniform of baseball cap, hoop earrings, dark clothes... Her hair tied up in the back... Suddenly, when we were about to hit 86th Street Station, she dropped, fainting. To their credit, the fellow New Yorkers caught her under her armpits, eased her fall, and turned her around to a sitting position. (I for my kept my hand palm open at the ready behind her back were it to have fallen to me to assist the folks catching her.) Folks, if this happens in front of you, hopefully it goes well the way it did this morning. Everyone was spot on - even her; after coming to, she disembarked at the next stop and took a seat on the bench, while I offered to call 911. (She assured me that she was fine, and I went on my way...) So if someone falls, and is unresponsive, do not move them - very important. Rather, stay with them and call for help (or, if you lack a phone, delegate finding help t
