Virtual Castro District San Francisco
Laugh if you will, New York, that San Francisco rolls its sidewalks up at sundown, but here's a virtual itinerary to a night you might spend (it is to be hoped, not puking or puked on) in old (just not Polk Street old), gay Baghdad by the Bay:
Start at Toad Hall, at the site of the old, then predominantly African American Pendulum - this is named for a Harvey Milk era bar (verkligen, it featured, IIRC, in the 2008 hit starring Sean Penn as the irascible gay icon...)
...And if the line isn't putting you off (Waiting! I say I hate waiting!), get in to Badlands for a drink and a spin...
...Of *course* Walgreen's, at the corner of Ooh Girl & Fierce, ought to be on your way across Castro Street towards the Mission; always something needful there...
Then, on the North side of 18th, Starbucks, The Mix (it's patio might still be serving up grilled burgers...?), and (lol, not pictured of course, the Castro Country Club - who knows? You and yours might just have found out what a nasty mess you really are!)
...Last, dig it in Moby Dick, where once a year even I stop in to try my hand at billiards! (Why, I remember $4 BOGO sex-on-the-beach happy hour, when I asked Queequeg, "Now, did Ishmael really exist, or did we NEED him to BE?..." )
...And here's where I, thwacked to the gills, take my leave - TWEAK ON, 7-eleven!
