This year, I was privileged to march with the New York Buddhist Church . We marched for equality and inclusiveness. The parade was led by Matthew Shepard's parents. Everyone's presence was appreciated, especially since the fight for marriage equality is all but won, yet these last couple of years have seen the rate of hate crimes against the LGBTQI community increase tremendously. So definitely a cornerstone of my pretext in escaping to forbidding-by-reputation Manhattan - I must settle upon Mohandas Ghandi as my touchstone for today.
